Connie Haltermann, Home League Secretary of the San Diego Citadel Corps shares a fundraising project that has worked in their corps, in case any other Women’s Ministries groups might be interested in doing something similiar.
Connie writes, “The San Diego Citadel’s Home League has had a “Dollar Table” at our weekly meetings for the past several years. The ladies bring their “white elephants” to sell for a dollar each, and other members buy them. Larger items are sold as marked, or we have mini silent auctions. We open the sale to the seniors who lunch at the corps the next day as well.
We also have had a “gently used clothing” booth called Connie’s Closet (just because the name is alliterative 🙂 at our annual Holiday Bazaar each November for the past few years. The ladies bring in their old clothing and accessories throughout the year, and we sell each item for $1.00. Jewelry is sold as well, for slightly higher amounts.
Our Dollar Table proceeds (about $500 annually) go to World Services, and our clothing and jewelry sales (also about $500 annually) go mostly to corps needs as defined by our officers and staff.
The ladies love these projects and contribute mightily to their success.”
